About the Project
Phenome-Emphasis is the French national research infrastructure for plant phenotyping, listed on the national research infrastructure roadmap. It brings together INRAE, the technical institutes ARVALIS and Terres Inovia, and GEVES, and it is the French counterpart of EMPHASIS, the European ESFRI infrastructure for plant phenotyping.
Supported from 2012 by the Phenome project under the Programme d’investissements d’avenir, it runs ten experimental platforms spread across France, from Montpellier and Toulouse to Dijon, Angers, Avignon, Nantes, Bordeaux, Clermont-Ferrand, Versailles-Grignon and Orléans-Bourges, alongside two biochemistry and metabolomics platforms, two digital service platforms and a coordination team. Its stated aim is to offer tools and methods to observe and predict how plants respond to their environment, for high-throughput phenotyping in the face of climate change and the ecological transition.
