About the Project

CLIMAF-PACA set out to acquire references on the conduct and the effects of large-scale arable cropping systems under agroforestry in Mediterranean conditions, and to examine how agroforestry can improve multicriteria performance: production, profitability, environment and climate.

The project looked at the technical and economic factors that decide whether agroforestry can be put in place, measured biodiversity and soil fertility on agroforestry plots, and modelled the potential effects on farm economics, on yields and on carbon storage. It ran in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region and closed in November 2024.

Key Objectives

  • Acquire references on the conduct and the effects of large-scale arable cropping under agroforestry in Mediterranean conditions.
  • Measure biodiversity and soil fertility on agroforestry plots.
  • Model the potential effects of agroforestry on farm economics, on yields and on carbon storage.
